About us
The Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) is the leading professional body for Commercial and Business Development Managers and an internationally recognised examining and awarding body for business and management students.
For those in management, the Institute provides a range of services and programmes designed to enhance career and personal development. For the business student, ICM’s educational programmes, qualifying examinations, and awards provide qualifications that are globally recognised - with over 100,000 students studying for and sitting ICM examinations every year.
ICM Membership is available to those in targeted sectors, based around the principles of Knowledge, Information, Ability and Vision. Members have access to worldwide industry news, appointments and events listings; business and leadership intelligence and much more - engaging and inspiring commercial and business development professionals across the globe.
ICM is also committed to strengthening the social and economic wellbeing of individuals and communities, and supports a range of projects both in the UK and overseas. Founded in 1979, the Institute is a not-for-profit organisation, registered educational charity number of 1045370. ICM’s global headquarters are based in Ringwood, Hampshire, and it operates in over 130 countries worldwide.
All business activity is overseen by Dr Alistair Somerville Ford, ICM Chairman and Head of the ICM Global Communications Group, and Tom Thomas, ICM’s Chief Executive.
